To make your visit to St Andrews a more enriching experience, here are some tips on how to get to the castle.
This is the famous Ruta Romántica, considered the most beautiful between Porto Alegre and Gramado airport. After Novo Hamburgo, BR-116 is incredibly beautiful, in addition to being close to some cities with strong German influence.
Along the way you can admire wide stretches of exuberant nature. It's a road with a lot of curves, which is why it's also the slowest route. In Nova Petrópolis, take the BR-235, which maintains its beauty at all times. If you take this road, you will enter Gramado through the traditional gate, located on Av. das Hortênsias.
The advantage of this route is that most of the route is highway, which is why it is the fastest.
Leaving Porto Alegre, take the BR-116 highway. On this stretch there may be a bit of traffic between Canoas, São Leopoldo and Novo Hamburgo, as it is a crossroads between several cities. Luego takes the RS-239 towards Taquara, where the RS-115 starts, which runs impeccably towards Gramado.
Using this route, you can visit the outlets in Igrejinha or the Buddhist temple in Três Coroas. The entrance to Gramado is via Borges de Medeiros Avenue.
