To make your visit to Saint Andrews an even richer experience, here are some suggestions on how to get to the Castle.
It’s the famous Romantic Route, considered the most beautiful between Porto Alegre airport and Gramado. After Novo Hamburgo, the BR-116 becomes incredibly beautiful, as well as being close to some towns with a strong German influence.
Along the way you can admire long stretches of exuberant nature. It’s a road with a lot of curves, so it’s also the slowest route. In Nova Petrópolis, take the BR-235, which maintains its beauty throughout. If you take this road, you will enter Gramado through the traditional gateway, located on Av. das Hortênsias.
The advantage of this route is that most of the route is duplicated, making it the fastest.
On the way out of Porto Alegre, take the BR-116. There may be a bit of traffic on this stretch between Canoas, São Leopoldo and Novo Hamburgo, as it is a junction between several cities. Then take the RS-239 in the direction of Taquara, where the RS-115 begins, which runs impeccably all the way to Gramado.
Using this route, you can visit the outlets in Igrejinha or the Buddhist temple in Três Coroas. The entrance to Gramado is via Av. Borges de Medeiros.
